Alexander Trujillo
Associate Attorney
Alexander Trujillo is an associate attorney at Anderson Legal, PLLC in Nashville, Tennessee, where he practices construction law, insurance coverage, and commercial litigation. He represents general contractors, subcontractors, owners, developers, and suppliers across Tennessee in payment disputes, construction defect claims, delay and disruption claims, and first-party insurance coverage matters.
Alex’s practice is built on the statutes and doctrines that decide construction cases: Tennessee’s mechanics’ lien statutes, the Prompt Pay Act, contractor licensing requirements and the pay-if-paid and conditions-precedent clauses that determine who bears the risk when money stops moving down the chain. He has recovered over $700,000.00 for an owner on a first-party fire loss claim. He handles disputes through arbitration and mediation as readily as through trial.
Alex came to construction law from a blue-collar background. He grew up around his father’s flooring sales and installation company and spent summers working on job sites. The people he represents now are the people he was raised by, and he knows what it means to carry payroll while a payment application sits unapproved, to be the last one paid on a project that went sideways, and to sign a contract whose terms were never really open to negotiation. That history shapes how he practices: he is candid early about what a fight will cost against what it can recover, and he reads a contract for the operational problems it will create on site, not just the legal ones it creates on paper. It also informs the work he does before any dispute exists; drafting and negotiating construction agreements, warranty terms, payment and default provisions, and dispute resolution clauses for contractors and builders who would rather manage risk at the front end.
Alex earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Tennessee and his JD from the University of Mississippi School of Law. He is licensed in Tennessee.
Alex is a member of the American Bar Association, Tennessee Bar Association, Nashville Bar Association, and Tennessee Association for Construction Counsel. In his spare time, he enjoys cheering on the Vols, playing rugby with the Nashville Men’s Rugby Football Club, noodling on one of his guitars, and cooking an overly complex meal.
